With its rolling foothills, historic houses and ranches, and streams, rivers, and lakes, the Sierra Nevada foothills offer some of the most prized real estate in California. The much-favored region is one of the fastest-growing regions in California. Retirees flock here because of the high quality of living and relatively low cost of living. Young families enjoy the region because of its wholesome rural ambiance and high-quality schools. In the lower foothills, planned communities offer spacious, oak-studded grasslands, incredible views and upscale homes close to Sacramento, Stockton and Fresno. Many communities feature a friendly, small-town feel along with rural ambiance.
