Hundreds of campgrounds throughout the foothills beckon recreationists. Enjoy an alpine lake, relax along a meandering or whitewater river or enjoy one of the many local reservoirs.

There’s something for every budget and camping preference. Several national forests offer primitive campgrounds with few amenities besides picnic tables, barbecues and pit toilets. Foothill area state and county parks typically offer running water and sometimes feature showers. Finally, private campgrounds often feature full hook-ups, swimming pools, kids’ activities and other amenities.
