Cameron Park

Once one of the county's more prominent ranches, this pleasant suburban community features not only lovely oak-shaded neighborhoods, but a golf course, airport, swimming and boating lake (Cameron Park Lake, a lovely favorite with both joggers/walkers and waterfowl), and several shopping centers. Today it has all but merged with the neighboring community of Shingle Springs to the east. The airport is unique in that it features a special group of homes with aircraft hangars instead of and in addition to auto garages. These homes line taxiways that lead to the runway.

GOVERNMENT

Cameron Park and Shingle Springs are unincorporated communities governed by the El Dorado County Board of Supervisors. They are represented on the board by Rusty DuPray, (530) 621-5650.

There's little left of Gold Rush history in the busy, modern Shingle Springs/Cameron Park area.Cameron Park is a place of family homes complete with most mid-size town amenities. Shingle Springs is more rural, with homes and ranches dating back to the California Gold Rush.

Pictured below, this building on Mother Lode Drive is one of the region's oldest structures. Dangerously unstable, it was recently torn down to make way for an office building.
